- Ester court (Propionate, Acétate) : Pic rapide, demi-vie 1-3 jours.
- Ester long (Enanthate, Cypionate, Décanoate) : Pic lent, demi-vie 7-15 jours. Injections 1-2x/semaine.
Ester court = PCT rapide. Ester long = attendre 2-3 semaines après la dernière injection.
The Basics of an Anabolic Steroid Cycle
A steroid cycle is a 6 to 12 week course during which you use one or more anabolic compounds following a precise protocol. The goal: maximize muscle gain or fat loss while minimizing side effects.
Every cycle breaks down into three distinct phases. Ignoring them means compromising your results and your health.
Active Phase (Cycle)
Administration of anabolic steroids at a defined dosage. This is where results are built. Duration: 6 to 12 weeks.
Transition
Compounds are stopped. The body clears remaining esters. Duration depends on the compound's half-life: 3 days to 2 weeks.
PCT (Post Cycle Therapy)
Restoration of natural hormonal production with SERMs (Nolvadex, Clomid). Duration: 3 to 4 weeks. Non-negotiable.
Oral or Injectable?
- Orals: Fast-acting, visible results within days. But hepatic first-pass is mandatory: liver protection essential, short cycles (4-8 weeks max).
- Injectables: Slower but more stable action. Less liver toxic, allowing longer cycles (8-12 weeks). The foundation of most protocols.
- Combination: Many protocols combine an oral as a kickstart (first 4 weeks) with an injectable as the base throughout the cycle.
Esters: Why They Matter
- Short Ester (Propionate, Acetate): Fast peak, 1-3 day half-life. Frequent injections (EOD). Allows precise control and quick exit if problems arise.
- Long Ester (Enanthate, Cypionate, Decanoate): Slow peak, 7-15 day half-life. Injections 1-2x/week. More comfortable, but the compound stays in the body longer after stopping.
- Impact on PCT: The ester choice determines when to start PCT. Short ester = quick PCT. Long ester = wait 2-3 weeks after the last injection.
